Empowered By Artificial Intelligence and Knowledge Map in Bio-Medical Physics Course 📝

Abstract:

Purpose: Artificial intelligence (AI) is attempting to understand the essence of intelligence and produce a new type of intelligent machine that can respond in a way similar to human intelligence. AI is an important driving force for the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation. It is revolutionary for analyzing knowledges and clarifying confusions of undergraduates aided by modern AI technology to improve university courses, e.g. Bio-Medical Physics .
Methods: Bio-Medical Physics is the personalized University Physics for biomedical engineering and Biological Food Engineering majors. The course platform has being constructed based on Chaoxing Smart Platform of our university. All teaching materials have been uploaded. Chaoxing AI workbench including functions of large-scale Artificial Intelligence model, intelligent writing, formula recognition, literature reading, video understanding etc. These functions were used to analyze the uploaded teaching materials and the external linking webs. The well-trained intelligence robot named AI teaching assistant can be waiting for asking around the clock, and continuously self-trained to improve. The knowledge map of course has also been constructed based on the knowledge map function by extracting manually the key knowledge points of each chapter and their logical relationship.
Results: The course platform aided by AI teaching assistant increases the student interest of accessing the platform. Generally, the accuracy of AI robot's answer to the conceptual or textual question is very high, but not to the computational issues. To some extent, the knowledge map of course helps the undergraduate classify and clarify knowledge, which are very useful for undergraduates for their insufficient class hours and superficial studying level.
Conclusion: The improvement to Bio-Medical Physics course aided by AI teaching assistant has explored. AI robot is more like a know-all and more helpful for clarifying concepts of Bio-Medical Physics. The trained AI teaching assistant can work around the clock.
